for COVID-19 updates.

Yes we are OPEN again!

Our team - animals and rangers - have missed you. We're so excited that you'll be back soon. We're working flat out to make sure we're ready for you when you get here.
We have made some changes to keep everyone safe. To help us and each other, please...

1: It will be a huge help if you buy your tickets online before you get here to avoid crowding at reception when you arrive.

2: Phone us on (02) 43751100 if you want us to help you with your ticket purchase.

3: Keep MORE THAN 1 emu length apart. We've got 80 acres so there's lots of space for you to spread out.

4: If you have a cold or you're not well, please postpone your visit. We'll change your ticket date to when you are feeling better.

5: We will have roving rangers around the "animal loop" to answer your questions and keep things clean and sanitised.

6: If you're concerned about anything when you are here, please tell us so that we can deal with it.

Community Volunteers

Volunteers make a difference!

At Walkabout Park we depend on the support of people, like you, who want to do something meaningful for conservation. Our resources are stretched. We do not have access to government funding for the conservation work that we do. We rely on the generosity of those who give their time and effort in a variety of activities which directly and indirectly support our conservation activities. Our volunteers make it possible for us to take care of our precious animals, our pristine bushland and significant cultural heritage sites.

Volunteering at Australia Walkabout Wildlife Park

sanctuary

Australia Walkabout Wildlife Park is a unique natural bush wildlife sanctuary.

Although it feels like we're in the middle of nowhere, nestled in true blue unspoiled Australian bush, the sanctuary is located only 55 minutes drive north from the Sydney Harbour Bridge and only 15 minutes from the Gosford train station.

Community Programs

ANIMAL RANGER: At least 2 days every week. This is very responsible work which is why we require an ongoing and regular committment. You will need training and to stay up to date to ensure that people and animals at Walkabout Park are not put at risk.

FRONT OF HOUSE: At least 1 day or 2 half days per week. This includes work in customer care, the cafe and visitor accomodation (cabins and campsite).

MAINTENANCE: At least 1 day per week. This includes building maintenance, bush care and general cleaning.

Eco Volunteering

PROGRAM: 1 or 2 week projects. Groups of 5 or more. You can contact us directly or through a 'Conservation Volunteers' or 'Eco-Tourism' organisation. The program is usually focussed on a number of finite projects such as fox-proof fence maintenance, path building, bush regeneration, building and refurnishing animal enclosures.
